Susan Griffin, M.S., ICADC, CADC-II, CCS
Susan Griffin has over 30 years of human services experience, with degrees in child development, music, psychology and behavioral science. She has specialized training in parenting, child development, substance abuse, anger management, and music/art work with children. Ms. Griffin has testified as an expert witness and served as a mitigation specialist.
She is the co-founder of Hannah's House, a nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching children, parents, and communities the skills essential to reduce violence and abuse towards self and others both in this generation and the next. Hannah's House provides supervised visitation and exchange services as well as education and support to families and communities in transition caused by: divorce/separation; custody/visitation disputes; substance abuse; mental illness; domestic violence; and/or child abuse/neglect.
Hannah's House programs include: parenting/co-parenting classes; children's support group; animal-assisted children's program; facilitated co-parenting meetings; supervised parenting time and supervised child exchanges; forensic substance abuse assessment, counseling and referral; and anger management class.
Ms. Griffin is a noted speaker with experience in radio, television and newspaper, who is sought after for her wonderful blend of warmth, humor, straightforwardness and richness of content. She was a guest on the San Diego Talk Show "KOGO for Kids." Ms. Griffin co-authored a book with her son's father, Co-parenting For The Sake of The Kids, a booklet for teachers, employee assistance professionals, and family law attorneys. She is also author of a series of articles called "The ABC's of Parenting." Ms. Griffin's books include: Parents are Forever; Turtles Travel Too; and The Healing Circle of Stones: A Positive Force for Transformation of Self and Community. Stones groups can be scheduled by contacting Ms. Griffin and they are held in treatment and recovery centers throughout the country.
In addition to over 30 years of work as an advocate and activist in the human services field, Ms. Griffin is a parent, step-parent, licensed ham radio operator, amateur herpetologist, horsewoman, songwriter, musician, artist, poet and short story writer.
Susan is the recipient of the San Diego Channel 10 Leadership Award; 2004 San Diego Kiwanian of the Year Award; President-Elect 2009-2010 Old San Diego Kiwanis Club.
